Utah Blues Festival

If your dad is more of a blues music kind of guy, the Utah Blues Festival is the place to treat him to this weekend on June 17. This signature fundraising event that is solely dedicated to increasing awareness of a uniquely American musical/cultural art form (Blues music) will be held at the Gallivan Center on 219 South Main Street. The lineup of musicians includes Ronnie Baker Brooks, Bernard Allison, Toronzo Cannon, Jordan Young, Tony Holiday & The Velvetones and Sister Wives. Slide the City

If your dad loves a little rush of fun, take him to the Slide the City on North Temple and Main Street, Get him tickets for the August 12th, 2017. This record-breaking water slide is 1,000 feet of slick inflated vinyl and may bring back some reminiscing memories to dad back when he was a kid setting up a slip-n-slide in his backyard. There will be live music, entertainment and local vendors during the event to keep the excitement going. All sliders must be 5-years-old and over 46 inches tall. Old School Throwback Jam

The Old School Throwback Jam at the Vivint Smart Home Arena on Saturday, June 18, 2016, will bring a blast-from-the-past to your dad if he was a teen in the late 80s and 90s. He’s certain to be familiar with the likes of music by Salt-N-Pepa, DJ Spinderella, Vanilla Ice, Coolio, Tone Loc, Young MC, Rob Base, Color Me Badd, The Jets and Candyman, and as the fates would have it, these musicians will be gracing Utah with their presence to revive hits such as “Ice Ice Baby”, “Gangsta’s Paradise”, “Bust a Move”, and so many other memorable songs.
